Programme Overview
The core of the Stiwdio Safle programme is the ongoing
professional development and practise of the artist and
the public realm context they inhabit and respond to.
Their interactions and connections with people and
communities are vital to the appreciation of creativity
and the empowerment of all concerned that comes from
this knowledge.
Stiwdio Safle is a vehicle for experimentation and creative risk taking. It supports a wide range of innovative activities thereby continuing its reputation for challenging traditional boundaries and assumptions and increasing the potential of art in the public realm.
The positive resonances of this scheme contributes to the individual projects themselves and not only enhances Safle’s strategic and developmental context both nationally and internationally but also that of the artists.

The programme includes artists’ contemporary research projects and residencies that engage with others to explore relevant issues, concepts and subjects.
Stiwdio Safle supports artists and potential partners at the proposal stages of exceptional projects. These aim to extend artistic and technical boundaries and may include a high level of creative risk and stand as exemplars in their field.
The programme also supports additional activities within client led commissions, extending the reach of the project and maximising its creative potential.
The Stiwdio Safle programme is core funded by the Arts Council of Wales.
