En Residencia is a publication that was produced to document a site-specific project conceived and curated by Welsh artist Marc Rees. The project was the result of an on-site laboratory where a group of 20 artists from Wales and Gijon responded to the interior and exterior spaces of a semi derelict area of Laboral, City of Culture, a dramatice site on the outskirts of Gijon in northern Spain.
The artists drew their inspiration from the unique environment, the archive material, abandoned artefacts and the history of the location. The main areas of their practice were performance and film with a significant measure of interaction between the practitioners themselves, and their audience.
