A resident artist’s reflections exploring the journey from
vault to reading room.
Resident artist’s exhibition at the National Library of Wales, Aberystwyth, 28th November – 31 January 2009. Private View November 27th, 6.30 - 8.30pm.
Two Halves Make a Whole, Arthur Lewis 1956 & Blue MacAskill 2008.
MacAskill has researched, explored and experienced all collections at the National Library of Wales. This exhibition tells the story of her discoveries and shows artworks that form a personal portrait of the library, reflected back by her response to the residency undertaken during the period January – October 2008.
The exhibition will feature photography and mixed media artworks, as well as a film project. The exhibition will be designed to fully utilise the library’s renowned 1916 building.
The exhibition will also contain work created on the project by 4 schools from all over Wales, Harlech, Nantgaredig, Llanidloes and Machynlleth. These young people have, with Blue MacAskill’s guidance, enhanced their understanding of the library’s offerings to them and their community through a series of visits to the library resulting in the making of the artworks.
